After four seasons, the talk show came to an end on Friday night. HLF8. The presenter Johnny de Mol thanked his team, the guests and the viewers at home, but also paid tribute to his family. That evoked the necessary emotions in him. “It really couldn’t have been done without his patience, love and his faith in me.”

The last broadcast of the talk show included Goedele Liekens, Filemon Wesselink and Caroline van der Plas. Surprisingly, de Mol’s regular stand-in, Hélène Hendriks, was not in the studio on Friday night. She was unable to be there due to “private circumstances,” De Mol said. It was not clear what was happening to her, but she wished him much strength. After that, there was a look back at beautiful moments from the talk show.

Only at the end of the episode did De Mol speak. “Dear people, this was him then. Latest. The last two years can best be described as a crazy rollercoaster ride spectacular. A roller coaster with an erratic course, high peaks, steep drops and, here and there, an unexpected loop that turned things upside down. However, none of us kept our eyes closed on this trip. We went all out, arms in the air and screaming with pleasure and sometimes a little bit of misery.”

De Mol stated that he was grateful for the guests, the viewers, and the music that was provided during the episodes. Also the team HLF8 put him in the spotlight. “I’m very proud and grateful that everyone has stayed put during this trip,” said the presenter. “Even when you could have chosen to leave. Nobody gave up, confidently conquered the next loop. There are not enough words to express how privileged I feel with a team like this. Thanks for the driveI’m going to miss him so much and I wouldn’t have missed him for the world. Now that we’re out, he’s still a little awkward and wobbly for a while, but he’ll be fine. I cherish all the beautiful moments.”

During the acceptance speech, De Mol remained strong, but when he started talking about his ‘home team’, he got a bit angry. ,,The four champions who are always waiting for me. It really couldn’t have been possible without their patience, love and faith in me,” De Mol said with a lump in her throat.
